Whitewater Rafting

Goat rafting trips get kids out in the river for a day of fun in the sun (and in the water if they're not careful). Rafting is a great way to enjoy the great outdoors and cool off on a hot summer's day. Goat lead guides are professionally trained and certified by the American Canoe Association (ACA) and have literally hundreds of hours logged on the river. At this time, Goat trips are run solely on the Nantahala River in Bryson City, North Carolina. "Nantahala" is an old Cherokee word for "Land of the noon-day sun" and our rafting trips on the Nantahala take full advantage of that warm noon-day sun.

The Nantahala river is an ideal setting for first-time rafting adventures. It is a recreationally released river, which means the same controlled amount of water is released from a dam (not like the bad word) everyday, ensuring the Nantahala is always at a fun and safe level.

Goat rafting trips are limited to about 18 participants. All rafts will have one trained Goat guide and 6 participants. Additional Goat staff will be present to assist at the put-in and take-out, and to take pictures.
