goat (Great Outdoor Adventure Trips)

All of our trips have associated costs, and many groups are asked to pay for trips (if they can). Because we are a non-profit organzation, all of the revenue from paid trips is returned directly to the programs, to fund scholarships. Think of it this way - if you are paying for a trip, you are helping another participant enjoy the same trip through a scholarship.

Nearly all of the at-risk and under-privileged youth who come on Goat trips have no means to pay for their experiences. We provide sponsorship to most of these participants, but not without the financial and spiritual support of countless individuals and groups. Please consider how you can help a young person create a memory that will last a lifetime, with a spiritual impact that will last even longer. Below are typical, estimated costs for participants and trips. This by no means stipulates what you can or should help with, but merely gives some insight as to operating costs for our trips. Goat is a 501c3 non-profit as recognized by the IRS. Donations are tax deductable.

Climbing trips require more gear than other Goat trips, and for obvious safety reasons, climbing gear must be replaced and purchased more frequently. Participants are also fed lunch, and in some cases, when time permits, we grill burgers afterwards. These costs, along with van rentals and gas determine our costs for climbing trips.

Sponsor a participant: $75
Sponsor a trip: $500

Rafting trips require less gear on Goat's part (we rent the majority of it) but the rental costs are fixed by the company(s) we use. This allows us to concentrate less on transporting and maintaining gear, and more on relationships with the participants. Rafting trips also require more driving and mileage on the rental vans, which obviously increases the price.

Our day hiking trips are the most straighforward from a planning, and cost standpoint. We do, however, still have associated costs, specifically liability insurance. We are obsessed with keeping our participants and guides well equipped, and more importantly, perfectly safe.

We trust that God will provide for our trips, although we often don't know where He will provide from. If you're interested in giving, please contact us. The costs are high, but we believe there's no price tag on the impact these adventures have on the participants. But don't take our word for it, come on a trip and see the smiles for yourself!

For ever since the world was created,
people have seen the earth and sky.
Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible
qualities — his eternal power and divine nature.
